Howell Hockey, incorporated as a non-profit organization, is honored to provide the opportunity for the children of Howell and surrounding communities to participate in a safe and organized youth roller hockey League where individual development and teams skills are emphasized, winning is secondary. The Club was formed in the Fall of 1994. The early seasons were played in the old Flea Market on Ro
ute 9. Seeking more space, the club worked with the Township Recreation Department and moved to Echo Lake in
1995. Three old tennis courts were transformed into two rinks. Hay bales were initially used to make the 'walls' as they had been at the
Flea Market. The Club and it's dedicated volunteers made major improvements in the summer of 1996 to install four foot walls with
six foot fencing which dramatically improved the level of play. Many exciting hockey games were played at Echo Lake from 1995 through 1999. The 2000 Spring season opened at the new facilities leased to the Club at Deer Wood Park on Lakewood-Allenwood Road. The Club has added several major improvements. In 2001, the rinks were resurfaced for smoother skating and less wear on the wheels. They are now resurfaced every 2 - 3 years. For the Fall 2002 season, permanent, professional looking scoreboards were installed. Heavier
gauge fencing means we can play with a puck. Club Info at a Glance
