Wow... our SPARTANS had an ammazing week at Camp Aquehonga (Ten Mile River), NY!
Each Scout learned about leadership, team work, and their personal resiliency.
From fingerprinting to space exploration and swimming to small boat sailing, fifteen Scouts earned a combined 79 merit badges during the week.
They prepared 14 meals, attended 9 flag ceremonies, participated in the camp aqua olympics, tie-dyed shirts, conducted cowboy action pistol and free shoot, and much more.
Two of our Spartans also participated the Camp Aquehonga Iron Chef Competition. Each participant was required to plan and prepare their own dish from scratch... and the competition was fierce. However, with the determination of a true SPARTAN, they brought home victory and made camp history by becoming the first adult and youth winners from the same Troop in a single year. Well done to our Scoutmaster, Mr R, as the adult leader winner, and Oliver G., our youth winner!
As always, the Spartans leave a legacy behind with a service project to improve the camp. This year, putting his special skills to use, Mr. Dan mounted 2 high ceiling fans in the Camp Headquarters. Well done Dan!
Troop 300 also brought home a streamer for Honor Troop as well as two streamers for Honor Patrol!
Finally, through the high points and the low... the sunshine and the rain... we are extremely proud of every SPARTAN for their performance at camp this year. Each gave their full dedication to overcome separate challenges and succeed. The worked as a cohesive team to persevere together.
WE're looking forward to another great Scouting year!1
