A few additions to the new boating safety laws that took effect in Indiana on July 1, 2026

* Wake surfing is prohibited on smaller lakes (299 acres or less) that enforce a 10 mph

* ANYONE being towed by a motorboat (such as water skiers or tubers) must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (life jacket) at all times.

Towing Curfew: Towing activities are completely restricted between sunset and sunrise.

Water Recreation Flags: Boat operators must display a bright orange or red "water recreation flag" (at least 12 inches square, visible from all directions) when a towed person enters the water or is in the water without the boat moving.

* Inland Lake Direction: On inland lakes, boats are required to operate in a counter-clockwise direction whenever possible.

Just a few safety reminders for the holiday weekend:
* The speed limit on the lake is 10 mph. Please keep your speed down!
* Anyone under the age of 13 is required to wear a life jacket whenever the boat is moving. This also applies to paddle boats, kayaks and paddle boats.
* All vessels on the water must have lights after dusk
* Do not drive between the swim docks and the shore line. Keep a safe distance from the swim docks and be aware that people may be swimming near them.
* Swimmers at the public beach are often further out in the water than expected so be extra cautious in that area.
Stay safe & have a great weekend !

These two dogs have been roaming in the old camp lately. If these are yours can you please keep them at your home.

What a storm !! We hope everyone is safe. There is a lot of damage here and around our area. Trees and utility lines are down.
Please share your photos of storm damage around the lake. Most everyone is still without power - both with REMC and NIPSCO.

An update on the milk jugs placed on the island. John Schrock placed them there and followed up with law enforcement after the lake association meeting. In order to be compliant with the law, he has put his name and phone number on them.
