IMPORTANT INFORMATION
To our Howe community,
We are excited that the park is complete and ready to open to the community. In our initial concept plans, a splash pad was included in the park. We want to clarify why and when the splash pad was removed from that initial plan. In early 2024 as we were getting current estimates on the cost of park improvements, it became clear that the increase in costs would exceed the funds we had available. We made the difficult but prudent decision to remove the splash pad from the plan. The park has features for all age groups. The Splash pad and playground were for the same age group, however the splash pad operation would be limited to a few months out of the year, so when we submitted detail park plans to the City in April 2024, the splash pad was not included.
We've recently had people asking if there will be a splash pad in the future. We are certainly hopeful there will be. We want the kids to be able to have a space to play and cool off in the summer heat. We've been focused on getting the park open and have not been addressing a splash pad. We won't know how much money we have remaining until after the park is conveyed to the City and all our bills are received and paid.
