DAY 2 was ANOTHER BLESSED and EMOTIONAL day. On May 17, 2026, Sister 2 Sistah, in collaboration with Councilmember Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, District D, was proud to bring young men from middle schools in the Third Ward area together for a day of mentoring. The S2S Barbershop Series provided FREE haircuts to all youth attendees while strong male mentors POURED into them , speaking about LIFE, HEALTH & HYGIENE, FINANCES, EDUCATION, MENTAL HEALTH and more. Special thanks to the mentors Donald Cooper (who led them in prayer), Bryant Floyd (social worker) and Thomas Greene (registered nurse, retired) Aysiah Ross for sharing their knowledge on this powerful and impactful day. Lastly, a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the owner and barbers at K*t Kreators Barbershop (2613 Blodgett Street) for allowing us to host the event at their historic venue. REAL MEN UPLIFTING THE YOUNG MEN IN THIS COMMUNITY. Thanks for answering the call!

EACH one, REACH & TEACH one! On May 16, 2026, Sister 2 Sistah, in collaboration with Councilmember Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, District D, was proud to bring nearly 20 young men from high schools and colleges in the Third Ward area together for a day of mentoring. The S2S Barbershop Series provided FREE haircuts to all youth attendees while strong male mentors POURED into them , speaking about LIFE, HEALTH, FINANCES, EDUCATION, MENTAL HEALTH and more. One highlight was an interactive session with SuitMart, where Mr. Demetrius Dickey taught the youth how to tie ties. Special thanks to the other mentors Donald Cooper (who led them in prayer), Bryant Floyd (social worker) and Aysiah Ross(recent grad) for sharing their knowledge on this powerful and impactful day. Lastly, a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the owner and barbers at Goode Looks Barbershop (5220 Scott Street) for allowing us to host the event at their historic venue. ABOUT LAST NIGHT… BEAUTIFUL! It was our sheer honor and privilege to award $10,000 in scholarships to deserving students at our Sister 2 Sistah Annual Dinner Party… while not all were able to attend, those who did, were treated to Chef Mark Holley’s first class fine dining at Davis St at Hermann Park. In addition to providing FALL tuition scholarships, we are able to stretch our budget to include funding for SUMMER camp and swimming lessons for elementary school children. (I’ll share those photos when we meet with the kiddos in a couple of months.) NONE of this would be possible without the kindness of H-E-B. Thanks to them, we are able to be support the community in more ways than we ever imagined.

Sister 2 Sistah was proud to take part in the McDonald’s APA Next College Readiness & Admissions Fair program. Not only was our S2S co-founder the emcee of the event, but as a proud sponsor, we were also able to speak about the work our organization does and provide valuable information on at our information booth. Education starts within the community.

Sister 2 Sistah was proud to partner with Houston Community Media to share valuable information with attendees at Sharpstown High School’s Fall Festival. (We also had fun packaging and distributing hundreds of FREE Halloween candy bags which brought hundreds to the table to spark community conversations and education.)
