International Robotics Collaboration Empowers Nigerian Teens in Akwa Ibom
IKA, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria – A remarkable international collaboration unfolded today as Ridwan, Niyati Mehta of the award-winning CPHS Robotics Team in Houston, Texas, and Pastor Ini Nwoko of the TENEF Foundation joined hands with the IBF Technology Learning and Research Development Center, Ika, Akwa Ibom, to deliver an impactful robotics and cognitive training session for Nigerian students.
The training session, facilitated locally by instructor James Kevin, focused on equipping teenagers with foundational programming and computational thinking skills. Through interactive and practical learning methods, students explored key concepts such as pattern recognition, iteration, algorithms, sequencing, variables, and logical reasoning.
In one of the most engaging parts of the class, students were guided to creatively design and develop a simple game program. Working in collaborative teams, they applied algorithmic thinking and logical structures to build functional outcomes, demonstrating not only technical understanding but also teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
According to facilitators, the teaching approach emphasized hands-on practice as the most effective form of learning. By breaking down complex programming ideas into relatable steps, the teenagers were able to grasp core computational concepts with confidence and enthusiasm.
Special appreciation was extended to Ridwan for his patience, clarity, and understanding throughout the cognitive training session. His guidance ensured that each participant remained engaged and supported during the learning process.
The collaboration between Houston-based robotics mentors and the IBF Technology Learning and Research Development Center reflects a growing commitment to bridging global knowledge gaps and empowering young minds in Nigeria with 21st-century digital skills.
