The Houston (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is partnering with Texas Reproductive & Maternal Health for its Summit to share information and connect more families with resources and opportunities to advocate for their health. A Summit watch party will be held on September 28, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. Please scan the QR code or click the link below to register.

The Texas Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee found that 80% of pregnancy-related deaths were potentially preventable. Severe maternal morbidity also rose from 72.7 cases per 10,000 delivery hospitalizations in 2020 to 85.5 in 2021, with Black women experiencing the highest rate at 134.4 cases per 10,000 deliveries.

These outcomes underscore the need for better education, access to care, early intervention, and advocacy for both reproductive and maternal health. In Texas, barriers to reproductive healthcare can make accessing infertility evaluation and treatment even more difficult; 22.6% of Texas women ages 19–44 are uninsured, compared with 10.8% nationwide.
