August has been a challenging month for the past 11 years, reminding me why I joined the fight against breast cancer. Eleven years ago, I made a promise to never give up on Cindy Welsh Colangelo dream. She envisioned a safe place for patients to shop, where they could find comfort and solace amidst their insecurities. A place where they could feel beautiful and special. This dream, known as CC’s Corner, is getting closer and closer each year.
This year, I helped form a group of compassionate individuals dedicated to providing sustainable assistance at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Houston. Our group, Friends of Hope Lodge, is in its early stages, learning and growing. We invite you to join us, either as a member or a volunteer. Our memberships start at $50, with founding memberships available for $1,000. Our goal is to have 30 founding members by December 2024. As a founding member, you will be a Friend for life! All funds raised will support our group in serving meals, hosting events, and providing solace to the guests at Hope Lodge during their treatment. We all need friends, and we all need a little help from our friends.
