Teagan Gregory Selected as County Clerk at 2026 Texas Boys State.
Teagan Gregory, an incoming senior in the class of 2027 at Clear Falls High School, participated in Texas Boys State in Austin. Texas Boys State is a highly competitive program for outstanding high school boys that have completed their junior year. The program is a week-long civic simulation where over 1,000 boys across the state of Texas converge on the capital to run for positions at the local, district, and state levels, to propose and enact bills, and to share in camaraderie.
Teagan’s leadership in JROTC as the battalion’s Command Sergeant Major and Color Guard Commander, his status as an almost Eagle Scout with B.S.A. Troop 848, and his unwavering dedication to his role as a Junior Volunteer Firefighter, with over 200 calls logged, at the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department, made him a prime candidate for the Texas Boys State program.
During his time in Austin, Teagan was assigned to the Nationalist Party, where he wrote speeches to run for Attorney General, District Attorney, and County Sheriff. In his first night, he earned enough signatures to become a county delegate, and later went on to win the party nomination for County Clerk. Ultimately, Teagan was elected to the County Clerk position for all of 2026 Texas Boys State.
In addition to his campaign efforts, Teagan also had a hand in writing and voting for various bills that came to the house floor at the capital. Between his political participation, Teagan was also a member of the Texas Boys State Color Guard, where he presented colors, and Texas Boys State Band, where he played piccolo. When asked about the best part of the program, Teagan shared, “The whole experience itself was impactful, but I think the most memorable for me was performing with the band during a parade to the Capitol, marching alongside over a thousand boys, then standing on the Capitol steps and playing for a small, impromptu audience of state legislators.”
As he heads into his senior year this fall, completes a few remaining tasks on his road to Eagle Scout, continues to log calls for the fire department, and makes progress on his application to the U.S. Naval Academy, Teagan shared that he will always be grateful to have been a part of such a significant program, to further hone his leadership and speaking skills, and, overall, to have the opportunity to have such a unique experience. “It definitely cemented the importance of completing my civic duty and the responsibility that comes with it,” he said.
