Lavaca County showed up strong at the 2026 RODEOHOUSTON World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, presented by Cotton Global Disaster Solutions competing against more than 250 teams from across Texas and around the world!

Representing Lavaca County Area Go Texan at the World Championship Bar B Que Contest, Shiner Smokers BBQ Team and Chief Cook Greg Hybner — earned:

Brisket: 139th (68.67)
Chicken: 127th (73.33)
Ribs: 156th (73.33)
Overall: 148th (215.33)

Competing on this stage takes serious preparation, dedication, and teamwork.

We Have a Winner!

Last year, Lavaca County was very fortunate to have three $20,000 Houston Rodeo Area Go Texan scholarship winners. Congratulations to Jaxon Bartos of Moulton, Brett Baker of Hallettsville and Moises Manzano of Moulton. That is $60,000 given to Lavaca County. We cannot wait to hear who the 2026 winner will be.

Turning in our Lavaca County Quilt Entry to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I always love looking at all the beautiful quilts on display at the rodeo. We hope to see a blue ribbon on it.
