Representing tens of thousands of voices in the Greater Houston area, the Texas Health and Environment Alliance (THEA) is dedicated to establishing an informed and engaged public movement to restore and protect environmental resources from historical contamination. At THEA, we seek to serve our community through a collaborative, multi-pronged approach to environmental justice. We are a community-b
ased organization supported by a robust technical team and a broad media network. Our goal is to serve as a bridge, closing the communication gap between our communities and the government agencies meant to protect them. We do this by collecting and analyzing information relevant to public health and toxic waste sites in the Houston area, disseminating this information to our communities, and voicing community concerns to the government at both local and national levels. We remind the agencies and corporations responsible for managing Superfund sites that there are real people behind the decisions they make, and we stand up for our voiceless environment by holding decision-makers accountable. We fight for the integrous, effective, and timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites that threaten the health of our communities here in Houston and beyond.
