🚨 COURT SUPPORT FOR DR. TOM ALTER 🚨

On June 17th, show up to the Hays County Courthouse (712 S Stagecoach Tr, San Marcos) to support Dr. Tom Alter during a public hearing.

During this hearing, the court will hear arguments on the State’s Plea to Jurisdiction, which is an attempt to delay and dismiss Tom Alter’s lawsuit before the facts of the case can be fully examined. The State is also seeking to halt the discovery process, which would prevent the release of documents and other evidence related to the case. The hearing will determine whether the lawsuit can move forward and whether the public will have access to information central to the claims being made.

Show up to pack the courtroom in solidarity! If you can’t make it to the hearing by 9:00am, please join the support demo outside the courthouse as we wait to hear the ruling!

UWHC is fed up with poor pay, and union busting at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD!
CEO Wayne Young awarded himself nearly $100k performance bonus all while laying off workers and telling employees that there is no $ for raises.
UWHC, TSEU, UNITE HERE! Local 23, and TGC ALF all gathered to demand an end to union busting, that CEO Wayne return his bonus, and that Harris Center Workers get the raise that they so desperately need.

🚨 Historic Victory for Houston Marriott Marquis Workers! 🚨

Workers at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown Houston have just won a historic new contract! Modeled after the Hilton Americas victory, minimum wages will be $22 hour by the end of the contract.

In addition to wage increases they secured
✅ Parking
✅ Lowered healthcare costs
✅ A new paid holiday in observance of Juneteenth
✅ And many more rights at work

Houston is a first class city with second class jobs and benefits. So on Saturday, May 16th, 100 union members canvassed across Houston to ask community members if they believe Houston Workers Deserve Better. 575 residents signed cards calling on officials and business leaders to stand with Houston unions in calling for better pay and benefits, safer workplaces and more secure jobs, and a voice at work for all. Thanks to the 14 local unions that participated: UNITEHERE Local 23; Teamsters Local 988; Machinists District 141/Lodge 811 and Lodge 2198; AFSCME HOPE Local 123 and Harris County AFSCME; Communications Workers Local 6154, 6222, and 6186 (TSEU); Operating Engineers Local 564; Houston Federation of Teachers; Painters and Allied Trades DC 10; and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 455.
