As Mental Health Month begins, Innovative Alternatives remains committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed counseling and advocacy for victims of crime, survivors, and families throughout our community.

If you’ve ever loved a counselor or an advocate, you know they give pieces of their hearts to their work every day. Right now, our wonderful administrative and clinical team needs the community to pour a little love back into them.

Behind the scenes, it has been an incredibly heavy few months. We experienced a change of an operational staff member, which forced our team to absorb massive amounts of complex billing work.

Then, on August 2nd, a devastating cyber-attack locked us out of our systems, forcing a painful, exhausting weeks-long climb to recover months of essential records and contracts.

Through tears, exhaustion, and intense stress, this team never stopped answering the call. They kept counseling appointments active for local college students, supported teams within the Galveston Juvenile Justice Division, and kept our doors open.

While our core programs are blessed to be partially funded by the Texas VOCA grant, grant funds cannot fix the toll these emergencies have taken on our day-to-day operating costs and our team's spirits.

With our fiscal year ending in just 2 days, we want to love on this team with a wave of community support. We want to show them that the community sees them.

We are proud to see the Santa Fe Ten Memorial moving forward.

Meaningful remembrance is an important part of the healing process for individuals, families, and the community impacted.

As the mental health support provider for Santa Fe ISD and those affected by this horrific act, Innovative Alternatives remains firmly committed to supporting the district, its students, families, and staff. We are honored to stand with this community as it moves forward with remembrance, healing, and hope.

And when the memorial is unveiled, we will be there. We look forward to sharing that meaningful moment with the Santa Fe community and honoring those whose lives changed forever.

The memorial will honor the 10 people who died and other victims of the May 2018 shooting at Santa Fe High School.
