On July 2017 The Fashion Week Fund will launch a campaign to raise funds for Texas’s next generation premiere Fashion Maker Space & vertically integrated production facility. The fundraising campaign will kick off on October 02,2017 in Austin, TX. The funds received through this campaign will go towards four necessary components of the organization, and will be sourced as follows-- location, equi
pment, storage and most key--new jobs. The Costume Collection Society, Is a group that supports the department's exhibition, acquisition, conservation, and publication programs to come. To promote a more profound historical and theoretical understanding of costume, these programs advance fashion as an art form and encourage the study of fashion as a serious academic discipline. The addition of The Costume Collection Society's records to the Collection Database was made possible in part by The Houston Fashion Week Foundation and Dallas Fashion Week Foundation directed by Founder Mr.Victor Quinteros Marquina. The Costume Collection Society of Texas founded in 2017 to support HOUSTON FASHION WEEK initiative to develop the fashion industry in Texas. In Celebration of the 10th anniversary of Houston Fashion Week and its events in AUSTIN, DALLAS, SAN ANTONIO and other cities across Texas. The Fashion Design Department focuses in the acquisition and preservation of garments and accessories of historical and aesthetic significance. It also promotes appreciation of fashion design through programs and support of the HOUSTON FASHION WEEK's exhibitions. Some activities include monthly fashion and textile programs, visits to private collections and studios, events at local fashion stores, travel, luncheons and receptions. The Costume Collection Society fashion design collection is one of only about 16 such collections housed in American. The Costume Collection Society support of this collection area depends on the enthusiasm of dedicated volunteers to help maintain and expand the collection. Membership provides an opportunity to share with others your interest in fashion as art. Exhibitions that focus on clothing both as an art form and cultural phenomenon are rotated regularly in the Fashion Design Gallery Exhibits. They underscore the significance of fashion as it relates to social and economic history. Texas presence in the history of fashion in America has in the Costume Collection Society a true curator of its significance.
