We joined fellow community organizations at the Houston Food Bank to help prepare essential food and household items for individuals and families in need.

From sorting donations and organizing supplies to working together on the assembly line to package and seal boxes, every task contributed to a shared mission of fighting food insecurity across our community.

This reel highlights the teamwork, dedication, and collective effort of volunteers coming together to make a meaningful impact. We are grateful to everyone who gave their time to serve others.

May Allah accept the efforts of all who participated and continue to bless our communities through acts of service and compassion.

We joined fellow community organizations at the Houston Food Bank to help prepare essential food and household items for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Working together in the warehouse, volunteers sorted donations, organized supplies, and participated in an assembly line to package and seal boxes that will be distributed to those in need. Through collaboration and service, every volunteer played an important role in supporting the Houston Food Bank’s mission of providing relief to our community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to this initiative. May Allah accept the service of all those who participated and continue to bless our communities through acts of compassion and generosity.

Alhamdulillah, AMO and Maryam Islamic Center were grateful to host Officer Nhan Phan for a C.R.A.S.E. training on active threat response, situational awareness, and community safety.

The session reminded us that safety begins with awareness. Sometimes prevention starts with noticing something that feels off, speaking up early, and knowing how to respond with clarity instead of panic.

Officer Phan walked the community through the AVOID, DENY, DEFEND framework and shared practical reminders for how to think during an emergency. He also emphasized that every masjid and community space is different, which means every masjid needs to have an emergency plan that is specific to its own building, layout, entrances, exits, windows, emergency supplies, fire extinguishers, and gathering areas.

This training was an important first step in helping the community understand the mindset and framework. The next step is for masajid to take that awareness and develop clear, practical plans for their own spaces, then make sure leadership, volunteers, and community members know what to do if an emergency ever happens.

Protecting our masajid is a shared responsibility. Awareness, preparation, and communication can make a real difference.

May Allah protect our communities and allow our masajid to remain places of peace, safety, and worship.

JazakAllah khair to Officer Nhan Phan, Maryam Islamic Center, and everyone who attended.

See you guys tonight!

In light of recent events, including the tragic attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego, AMO and Maryam Islamic Center are hosting a free C.R.A.S.E. training session for our community.

C.R.A.S.E. stands for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event. This training is designed to help everyday people understand what to do in an active threat situation, how to stay calm, and how to respond with clarity when every second matters.

The session will cover active threat response, situational awareness, civilian survival strategies, and the AVOID, DENY, DEFEND framework.

This training will be led by certified instructor Officer Nhan Phan.
