A look back at our Houston tour with Shaykh Dr. Asif Hirani!

Alhamdulillah, we had the pleasure of welcoming Shaykh Asif from Dallas for a five-day tour featuring eight events across Houston, bringing together community members for meaningful discussions on gender roles, sexuality, postmodernism, and contemporary societal challenges through an Islamic lens.

A key focus of this tour was addressing important yet often overlooked or taboo topics within our communities, creating opportunities for open dialogue, reflection, and a deeper understanding of how Islamic principles guide us in navigating today’s challenges.

We are especially grateful to all the masajid, organizations, and community leaders who partnered with AMO to make this tour possible. Collaborations like these demonstrate what we can accomplish when we come together to serve and strengthen our community.

Jazakallah Khair to Shaykh Asif Hirani for his time, knowledge, and willingness to engage in these important conversations. May Allah reward him and everyone who helped make this tour a success.

Conversations around men, women, marriage, and gender roles have become increasingly polarized.

On one side, movements like modern feminism have emerged in response to real experiences of inequality and mistreatment. On the other, the rise of the red pill/manosphere has often been a reaction to frustrations many men feel about modern relationships and expectations.

But when these conversations become a battle between men and women, where does that leave us as Muslims?

Islam does not ask us to simply adopt one side of the culture war. It gives us its own framework β€” one rooted in justice, responsibility, mercy, rights, and accountability before Allah ο·».
