Hi there! I’m the kind of pup who believes life is best spent close to my people—preferably snuggled right up next to you. I’m super affectionate and a world-class cuddler, always ready to lean in for pets or curl up for a cozy nap.

I’ve got a low-to-medium energy level, which means I enjoy some playtime and walks, but I’m just as happy relaxing by your side. I get along great with cats, kids, and other dogs, so I’d fit right into a variety of homes. I’m also pretty quiet—I rarely bark, so I won’t be much of a noise-maker.

One thing you should know about me: I really love my humans. Like, a lot. If there’s a gate between us, don’t be surprised if I figure out a way over it just to come find you. What can I say? I just want to be where my favorite people are.

Hiya! My name is Roxie and I’m a big love ball with cuddles to spare! In my resident foster home, I’m a single pup, so I get lots of snuggles and practice my leash skills. However, at my "vacation" foster home, I spend all my time playing with the other pups and enjoy pack walks! I do enjoy the human children at my other foster mom’s home, too! If you’re looking for a happy pup to play and cuddle with, then pick me! My name is Goofy 🤪 and it couldn’t be more fitting! I am, in fact, a goofball but I’m also a super smart guy with a big ole smile and ears who have a mind of their own. I am house trained, kennel trained (in fact, I feel safest eating my meals in my crate and won’t feel threatened it’s going to be taken from me), and know lots of commands- sit, wait, paw, kennel, down, drop it, and I play a great game of fetch. My favorite snacks are cold cucumbers! I love the kids in my foster homes and have learned to refrain from jumping on my people except when I’m just too excited to hold it in. I love playing with other dogs and would love a furry friend in my FURever home. No old, grouchy dogs, because I’m not great at not begging them to play, but I get along well with all sizes. Cats are like balls to me and I want to chase and fetch them, so it’s best the home doesn’t have any. I’m super friendly and looooove to be loved on so if your hands are free for endless pets, use them to submit an application to meet me!

Sahara here, yes, still! I have been in foster care for a REALLY long time and despite being incredible, I still haven’t been chosen! I LOVE a great game of Frisbee and a lap nap after, I am house trained and enjoy long walks, swimming on a warm day, and even do well in the car. Speaking of cars, if you need safety at the ATM, take me along! I am muzzle-trained, if needed, and would love to explore a new neighborhood! I will alert you any time someone is near my home and scare off the bad guys with my big barking skills. I’m super smart, too, and know lots of commands- sit, leave it, wait, get down, and will even wake up from dreamland with my favorite blankies to give my person a hug if you ask me! While I am not friendly with other animals, people are my favorite! My foster mom loves me lots but she and I would both love to see me in a FURever home. Hi, I’m Radar! I came into my foster home after living on the streets. I am now the happiest of dogs and have a lot of energy to go with all this happiness. I love to learn (am very treat oriented) and am learning so much! I’ve learned several commands and I’m fully house trained. I love to play fetch - want to throw the ball and have me chase? It will be the best day ever! I love dog toys that make noise. Got a new squeak toy the other day and it completely made my whole day. I love to cuddle with my foster mom on the sofa - sometimes we both take a nap. We both enjoy those snuggles! I love to play with my foster-fur siblings. I can be a bit goofy, so tiny dogs might get stomped. I love to play tug-of-war with my big foster-fur sister, and I love to play in the rain, drink water from the hose, and chase frogs. I sleep all night in my cozy kennel filled with my favorite plush toys and only whine a bit in the morning when I need to go out. I need a fenced back yard to run around in - I can literally entertain myself with my toys, but would love a fur brother/sister to play with. Want a running buddy, someone to take hiking, someone to play with in the backyard...? I’m your guy! I can’t wait to meet you.

🆘️Houston Cares family, we need your help!

Our current foster homes are bursting at the seams and we have two dogs being returned to the rescue. As always, animals in our program are Cares alum for life and we always do what we can when things don't work out and they need a safe place to land, again.

Bregman (black, male) and Verlander (brown, female) came into the rescue as newborns and will turn four in October. They are:
✔️ fully vetted
✔️ house-trained
✔️ dog-friendly

They're both around 55-65 pounds.

Together or separately, they need a foster home 🚫 WITHOUT CATS 🚫 and 🚫 WITHOUT YOUNG CHILDREN 🚫 in the Greater Houston area. Supplies and veterinary care are provided by the rescue.

Hi, I’m Jersey, your new best friend! My favorite place to be 99% of the time is next to you whether it’s a couch cushion or me hogging the bed. Some may even call me a “clinger” (rude!). I love playing with my toys, my bones, and the other dogs in my foster home. I seem to prefer dogs a little smaller than me. Despite that, I am a bit afraid of the kitty cat in my foster home, though I am a little curious. I like eating in peace and although I’m kennel-trained, I prefer my freedom. I am a great car rider and even trained to use a dog door- I do my business outside! If my funny ears and perfect spots are appealing to you, just wait until you meet me!
