***Playwright Spotlight***

Nationally recognized playwright Kwik Jones joins the 2026 Fade To Black Play Festival with When the Horn Blows, directed by Tyne Jeanae.

For more than three decades, Kwik Jones has been writing, directing, and producing thought-provoking theatre that explores culture, identity, family, and social justice. A theatre major at Goddard College, he has created an extensive body of work that includes A Strange Seed, Memphis Bound, Water Boyz, A Cup of Life, Man's Favor, Devil's Plan, and many others.

Kwik's work has earned national recognition, including the 2024 NAACP Theatre Award for Best Playwright for a 99-Seat Theatre for Man's Favor, Devil's Plan. His plays have been finalists and award winners at festivals and competitions across the country, including the Portland Civic Theatre Guild New Play Award, Downtown Urban Arts Festival, National Playwriting Conference, and the Black and Latino Play Celebration.

His work has been developed and produced by respected organizations nationwide, including The Robey Theatre in Los Angeles, Collective Consciousness Theatre in Connecticut, and numerous festivals dedicated to advancing new voices in American theatre.

Fade To Black is honored to feature When the Horn Blows and celebrate a playwright whose work continues to inspire audiences and contribute to the evolving landscape of contemporary theatre.
