🦾 Member Miércoles: Edgar Morales ⚙️
This week’s Member Miércoles highlights Edgar Morales, who recently secured an exciting role as a System Engineer Intern! Working in supply chain automation in collaboration with Walmart, Edgar is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in the automation industry and developing technical skills he can carry throughout his career. His journey to this offer was a masterclass in persistence; by staying consistent with his applications on LinkedIn, he proved that dedication eventually leads to the right opportunity. Edgar’s best advice for fellow students is to keep pushing forward and never stop applying, because you never know which click will lead to your next big break. Congratulations, Edgar! ⚙️🦾✨

MAES Member Miércoles: Rowdy Fuentes

This week, we are incredibly proud to highlight a former MAES-UH President and a true inspiration to our community, Rowdy Fuentes!

Rowdy recently served as the Keynote Speaker at the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston, where he spoke to over 1,000 students and families about the power of resilience. During the event, he was honored with a special recognition for his role in "empowering students and creating a legacy in STEM."

Redefining the Comeback 📈

Rowdy’s journey is a masterclass in persistence. As a first-generation student, he shared a story that resonated with everyone in the room:

Facing Adversity: After life forced him to step away from his initial path as a ChemE, he eventually returned to the classroom after a five-year hiatus.

The Turnaround: Confronting academic probation and a 1.05 GPA, he refused to let the numbers dictate his potential.

Rising to the Occasion: He transformed that 1.05 into a 3.0 GPA, proving that "difficult" is not a synonym for "impossible."

In His Own Words:

"I chose to keep pushing. Dreams are worth the effort, nothing should stop you. It will be hard... but just because something is difficult, doesn't make it wrong. I didn't fall from grace, I rose up to it."

Rowdy’s favorite moment from the fair was hearing the applause of over a thousand people when he shared that he is the first in his family to graduate college—a moment of pride for him and for all of us at MAES.

The Legacy Continues 🚀

Rowdy, thank you for showing us that no obstacle is too great and for continuing to pave the way for the next generation of STEM leaders. You embody the spirit of Familia and excellence!
