Here’s a throwback to Glasshouse by Kevin Day, performed at SAF 2024!

Kevin Day’s music ALWAYS lights up the room, and this performance is one we still think about. We’re beyond excited to deepen this collaboration as we record Tidal Forces, a full portrait album of Kevin’s chamber music. If Glasshouse moved you, just wait until you hear what’s coming next.

Help us bring this project to life by supporting our fundraising campaign! 🌊🎶

Andy Hall just wrapped up a day of teaching and is pumped for our upcoming composer portrait album with Kevin Day! 🎶✨

He’s especially thrilled to premiere a brand new piece on the album. As a self-proclaimed band nerd, Andy has always been a huge fan of Kevin’s writing, especially his wind ensemble works. Kevin has an incredible knack for writing for winds and for mixed instrumentation… which makes this collaboration with Latitude 49 such a perfect fit.

We can’t wait to bring this new music to life! 🌊💙

Max sends a huge thank you to all our supporters, past, present, and hopefully future, as we embark on our next big collaboration with Kevin Day. 💙✨

He’s especially excited for this album because of the growth he’s seen within the musicians of Latitude 49. After recently rewatching an old video of us performing Shulamit Ran’s music, he was struck by how much we’ve evolved together, how our sound, our artistry, and our connection have all deepened over the years.

Now, we get to pour that energy into a brand-new project with Kevin Day, and Max couldn’t be more thrilled for what’s ahead.

We hope you’ll support us! This collaboration is going to be so good! 🌊🎶

Calling all students, curiosity chasers, and experience seekers - the 2026 Contemporary Performance Lab application is OPEN!

For the Sound Atlas 2026 New Music Festival, we are once again assembling a group of talented and creative individuals to form an in-residence ensemble: the Contemporary Performance Lab (CPL). While positions in the CPL are limited, if selected, you will have the opportunity to work with featured musicians and composers (including our very own host ensemble Latitude 49, sound engineer Alex Bohn and featured composer Kevin Day), receive an all-access festival pass, perform at our "industry night" and be featured on the festival in performance! CPL fellows get a backstage pass and learn how the festival happens on the back-end while receiving mentorship and career-development. The CPL experience is a one-week immersion into contemporary performance practices and a dynamic Summer experience that is entirely TUITION FREE!

NEW this year: accepting applications for solo musicians, pre-formed chamber groups, and sound engineers!

If you or someone you know would be interested, please consider applying and share widely! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddFshErrDu8p6svEAl_erCzgklkU9klyNHnr3ftI_H9lNU5w/viewform?usp=header

Here’s Tim, deep in practice for Gabriella Smith’s Brandenburg Interstices with the Vancouver Symphony and feeling a full-circle moment.

Preparing this piece reminded him of Latitude 49’s very first fundraiser over a decade ago, when we commissioned Gabriella at the very start of our journey. Seeing how those early seeds have grown and shown up in our lives and artistry today has been incredibly fulfilling.

In that same spirit of planting what will one day grow, Tim invites you to help us nurture our next big project:
🌊 a portrait album with composer Kevin Day: Tidal Forces.

Your support truly helps the music take root. đź’™

Jani is so excited for this project with Kevin Day! ✨

As a pianist, she knows Kevin’s writing is going to feel just right under her hands, the kind of music that grabs your brain, your ears, and your heart all at once. 🎹💙

She can’t wait to dig into these pieces and see what new sounds and stories come out of this collaboration. And we’d love for you to be part of that journey, too.

🌊✨ Introducing Tidal Forces — a new collaboration with composer Kevin Day! ✨🌊

We’re thrilled to launch the fundraising campaign for our upcoming album, Tidal Forces — a deeply personal project featuring chamber works by the incredible Kevin Day, written across many years of his creative life.
In this video, Kevin shares why this recording means so much to him: his lifelong connection to water and the ocean (he is a Pisces, after all ♓️🌊), his love for themes of glass and reflection, and his excitement to bring this music to life with the artists of Latitude 49.

Tidal Forces blends moments of meditation, turbulence, clarity, and introspection — a sonic world shaped by fluidity, light, and emotional resonance.

We can’t wait to share this music with you.

Help us make it happen by supporting the project today!
