🦁Safety Tip Thursday with Judah!

Here’s a simple one that can make a BIG difference during an emergency:

🔑 Know how to manually unlock your garage door.

If your garage door is electric and the power goes out, you may not be able to open it normally. Knowing how to use the emergency release can help you get your vehicle out or get back into your home if the garage is your usual entry point.

Take a minute today to find the emergency release and make sure everyone in your household knows what to do.

Because preparedness isn’t always about the big things…

Sometimes it’s knowing how to handle the little things before they become a problem.

Isaias is forecast to quickly become a hurricane over the Gulf by Friday before turning north and impacting the northern Gulf coast Friday afternoon into Saturday.

As storms continue across the area, please remember: never drive through flooded roadways.

🚗 If you encounter water covering the road, turn around and find another route.
⚠️ You may not be able to see how deep the water is or whether the roadway underneath has been damaged.
🌊 Just a few inches of moving water can create dangerous conditions for a vehicle.

🌦️ WEATHER AWARENESS UPDATE
HOUSTON AREA

Heads up, Houston, Tomball, Cypress, and surrounding communities!

Current forecasts are showing an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity later this week across Southeast Texas, with some storms potentially bringing heavier rainfall. This is simply a heads-up based on the weather information currently available. Forecasts can change as we get closer, so now is a good time to stay weather-aware and keep an eye on updates from the National Weather Service and local officials.

What you can do now:
• Keep weather alerts turned on
• Check your local forecast before heading out
• Be aware of areas prone to street flooding
• Give yourself extra travel time if storms develop
• Keep an eye on changing conditions throughout the week

DTM will continue monitoring the weather and sharing updates as additional information becomes available.

You may not see a lot of photos from our Search & Rescue work.

There’s a reason for that.

A lot of what happens in SAR simply isn’t ours to post. There are privacy concerns, active situations, coordination with other agencies, sensitive information, and moments where the priority has to be the mission not getting a picture for social media.

So while our social media may look quiet sometimes, that doesn’t mean nothing is happening behind the scenes.

Our teams train. We coordinate. We communicate. We stand by. We respond when called upon. And, when appropriate, we volunteer alongside other agencies and organizations to help accomplish the mission.

We’re incredibly grateful for every agency, department, organization, and fellow responder who allows us to serve alongside them. ❤️

Not every mission gets a photo.
Not every deployment gets a post.
Not every hour of work is visible.

And that’s okay.

Sometimes the best thing we can say is simply:

We helped. We served. And we’re grateful we had the opportunity to do it.

That’s the part of SAR you don’t always see.

⛈️ Strong thunderstorms may affect Kerrville and surrounding areas this evening. The National Weather Service says these storms could bring wind gusts over 40 mph, small hail, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

Please head indoors as storms approach, and never drive through flooded roads. Keep your phone and power banks charged in case the weather causes a power outage. 🔋
