Orchestra On Call We bring live orchestral performances to patients, families and caregivers in various health care institutions throughout the Houston area.

Houston's Orchestra On Call (HOOC) brings live music performances to patients, families, and caregivers in different medical settings throughout the Texas Medical Center and Greater Houston area. Houston's Orchestra On Call is comprised of volunteer musicians who constitute the On Call ensembles and the HOOC Chamber Orchestra. The mission of the Houston’s Orchestra on Call is to enhance the lives

of patients as they go through the process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery within a medical setting and to relieve emotional and mental stress in patients, families, doctors, staff and other health-allied professionals. HOOC, led by its Artistic Director, Carlos Guillermo Jung, offers programs that provide opportunity for reflection, inspiration and education for the audience and the membership. Listening to music causes the brain to release the “feel-good hormone” dopamine, which has been associated with decreased anxiety, lower blood pressure and even improved memory and ability to deal with pain. But changing how you hear that music may amplify some of those benefits. Studies now link live music to increased energy levels for cancer patients, improved engagement in people with dementia and lower stress levels of premature babies.
