STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
We seek improvements to our nation’s immigration system that will (1) secure our nation’s borders; (2) continue America’s greatness by attracting the world’s hardest-working and most gifted to our shores; (3) establish fair, compassionate and efficient procedures to treat the undocumented in a just manner; and (4) provide certainty and predictability to law-abiding job cre
ators. Secure Our Borders
A defined territory being an essential element of nationhood, the defense of any nation’s borders is a fundamental responsibility of its government. We demand the application of effective, practical and reasonable measures to secure our borders. Encourage the World’s Hardest-Working and Most Gifted to Our Shores
Throughout our history, America has been exceptional because it has attracted the world’s most productive, industrious and gifted to our shores. America needs fair and consistent procedures that will again enable freedom-loving, hard-working and law-abiding immigrants to join us, by providing them an efficient, practical method of legal entry, so they can lawfully take positions where their labor is needed, without fear of exploitation or harassment. Fair, Compassionate and Efficient Procedures to Address Undocumented Individuals
Because of the decades-long failure of both political parties to secure our borders and address the immigration issue, there is now upwards of 10 million undocumented individuals in the United States today, each of whom entered and remains here under different circumstances. Mass deportation of all these individuals would neither be equitable nor practical; while blanket amnesty, as occurred with the Simpson-Mazzoli Act of 1986, would only encourage future violations of the law. We seek common ground to develop fair and efficient procedures that will be compassionate, equitable and firm. Certainty for Job Creators
No American employer should fear competition from those who violate the law by exploiting the undocumented, and law-abiding job creators should be able to rely on simple, fool-proof procedures to ensure compliance. We urge the creative use of current technology to develop low- cost, efficient and simple methods that will enable job creators to quickly establish the immigration status of prospective hires without extraneous paperwork, so both employers and employees will have certainty in the hiring and immigration compliance process.
