This is a one-time volunteer opportunity to help prepare Houston's senior citizens for hurricane season.

Salvation Army TX EDS loaded 20 pallets of water this morning headed for Newton County, east of Houston. The small community of Liberty has been without water since Tuesday evening after a water well collapsed. The Salvation Army is also deploying a tanker truck that holds 3800 gallons to provide support.

WHAT: Volunteers needed for a State of Texas Hurricane Evacuation Exercise for the Houston/Galveston region June 5th through the 6th.
WHO: Volunteers should be age 18 and above, children under 18 may participate if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Volunteers will be asked to report to the Southeast Harris County Regional Transportation Hub where they will be registered, processed, transported to an evacuation center in Huntsville to spend the night and finally return the next day back to the Pasadena Convention Center. Volunteers can participate in the evacuee registration portion only, or choose to participate for both the registration portion and overnight portion.
WHERE: Pasadena Convention Center, (Southeast Harris County Regional Transportation Hub) 7902 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena TX 77505.
WHY: The goal of the exercise is to test the State of Texas' ability to support local jurisdictions in evacuating its citizens from coastal areas in the path of an approaching major hurricane.
WHEN: Volunteers should arrive at the Southeast Harris County Regional Transportation HUB between 10 AM and noon on June 5th and should expect to return back to Harris County no later than 4 P.M. HUB on June 6th.
