Hey Book Fam!

So due to the likely deep freeze, we are going to postpone everything this weekend. The fundraiser for neighborhood free libraries and banned books with will happen next Saturday, January 31 at the same time, with the same info. Check our previous post and follow them!

We are also moving the volunteer day from this Sunday, January 25th to next Sunday, February 1. Same time same details. If you signed up, but can’t make next week, please don’t worry, there will be more dates, and we completely understand with the changes.

Please stay warm, check on your neighbors, try not to travel if you can help it. We’ll see you all next week!

Here’s to good and better things in the New Year!

We are wishing many books, much reading, meaningful stories, powerful journeys, connections, life, care, and so much to all of our followers! And to all of our city, larger community, and state in the coming year as we work to build deeper community.

Always at the end of a year we find ourselves reflecting on our good fortune. We feel so grateful to have this beautiful and incredible group of readers and supporters who we couldn’t be where we are without. Thank you.

And yes, that’s right, if you want to get more involved, please visit the volunteer page of our website (link in bio) and read about and sign up to come help us out! New dates were just added.

As promised…!

January Open DatesSaturday, January 10th (2nd Saturday!)Tuesday, January 13thThursday, January 15thSaturday, January 17thTuesday, January 20thThursday, January 22ndTuesday, January 27thThursday, January 29thSaturday, January 31st (bonus fifth!)

We will be open from 9 to 3 on Tuesdays (new day!) and Thursdays
And from 9 to 5 on open Saturdays.

Beginning in February, we will be back to our regular schedule, with the addition of Tuesdays:

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9–3
1st and 3rd Saturdays, 9–5

We’re so excited to be bringing you more opportunities to visit us!

As a result, Tuesdays won’t be available as volunteer days in the future. But we will make sure to include plenty days each month to give you opportunities to help us out if you’re interested.

So excited for the New Year!!!

Reminder: Due to the way the holidays fall this year, tomorrow, Saturday December 20th will be our last open day of 2025. We will be back open on January 10th (Second Saturday!) for our first day of 2026.
We’re also super excited to be bringing an extra open day in the new year. We will be open on Tuesdays beginning in January and moving forward!!!IMPORTANT: Please check out our next post for January dates as they are very odd! Be sure to check those dates before you come by in January. They will also be posted on our website. Stay tuned for a post on Volunteer dates being posted on the website.

WOW! We’re completely floored! We came in first in Houston’s Best nonprofit Category!!!

This is all due to you, our incredible supporters and followers; you reviewed us, you voted, you just generally got behind what we do and shared us with friends, family, even strangers. We couldn’t be more grateful for this incredible community.

We’re blown away. Thank you❤️

Hey Book Babies!!

We’re excited to add a tiny new fundraising hustle! ☺️

All the books in our new shelf are unstamped and rare, first editions, and/or signed. They are all available for a donation.

If you make a $20 donation you can take a book valued between $20-40.
If you make a $50 donation you can take a book valued between $50-$80.
We also have some unique Texas interest rate books that are priced individually.

We’ll keep adding constantly, but come check out the selection.

Most importantly, 100% of these donations go to our upkeep, so it’s a great way to support us and pick up a fun treat or a gift for family or friends. Your support allows us to keep our resource free for all.

That’s right, we now have volunteer dates up for the rest of the year! Check the link in our bio and sign up if you’re interested in helping out. Our website’s volunteer page has information about what to expect, what to bring, and what you’ll be doing.

Additionally, on our main page, as well as the Hours/Location page, you can find fall dates that differ from our normal hours. These are dates we will either be closed or have changes to our regular schedule. You can see these dates below.

SAT, NOV 15TH: CLOSED*
SUN, NOV 16TH: OPEN 9-5*
THURS, NOV 27TH: CLOSED*
SAT, NOV 29TH: CLOSED*
THURS, DEC 25TH: CLOSED*

Aside from these changes, we will still adhere to our normal hours. These are:

Every Thursday from 9 to 3 -and-
1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 9 to 5
