Confidently walking in Black Brilliance, Beauty and Boldness, as many did before me as Miss Yates.

Briana was truly honored to represent as 93rd Miss Yates at T. H. Rogers Black History HBCU Program today, which included Yates drum line.

I was deeply honored and truly appreciate you Principal Tiffany Chenier.

There was a Black History Program at T. H. Rogers and principal Tiffany Chenier a graduate of Texas Southern University invited Miss Yates Briana Webber and Yates drum line to participate in the HBCU program.

Tiffany should be honored today because she is the 1st Black principal that has ever been selected to lead T. H. Rogers Pre K -8th grade. I would like to thank her for the invitation and invite for Jack Yates to attend and participate in their program. It was great for teachers and administrators to provide accolades to the band and Miss Yates by the speech provided.

Our History

Jack Yates National Alumni Association (JYNAA) was legally formed on January 7, 2015 as a Non-Profit 501c3 organization with a purpose to unite alumni, support our Alma Mater and strengthen the ties between our scholars, alumni, parents, community businesses, colleges, universities and its feeder pattern schools to preserve the rich legacy, pride, excellence and tradition of Jack Yates High School.

Jack Yates Sr. High School was established February 17, 1926. Jack Yates Scholarship and Alumni Affairs was organized and formed August 26, 1989 under the leadership of Sara Gibbs which she lead until 2014. In 1995 an “Alumni Pledge” was created by Sara Gibbs ‘48, D. Langham ‘49, J. Robert Jones ‘55, I. Jones ‘55, E. Fisher ‘58 and R. Patten ‘66 to echo for years to come. Yates was in need of their alumni support, so Mr. Roland Cotton made a decision in Summer 2014 to form an “active alumni association” to reunite the alumni base to support and help rebuild our great institution, Jack Yates Sr. High School.

Jack Yates High School Alumni Pledge (1995) - I, (insert your name), a member of the Graduating Class of (insert year), do declare my loyalty and dedication to my Alma Mater, Jack Yates High School. I do hereby pledge: To always uphold the principles and ideas of our Alma Mater, to remember the crimson and gold, to always tell the story of Jack Yates fame, to never forget that I am a role model for students coming after me, and to maintain the beacon of light for eager eyes. I further pledge to stay informed and concerned about Jack Yates High School and whenever possible, I will support my school and its students with my time; with my service; with my experience; and with my finances. I make this vow because of my pride in being known from this day forward, as an “Alumnus” of Jack Yates Sr. High School, Houston, Texas.
