COCOA BEAN is looking a bit better after being sedated, clipped, cleaned, and treated for wounds and a maggot infestation. She is on fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication. Unfortunately, her left eye is damaged beyond repair and will need to be removed once she is stable enough for surgery.

This 10-pound girl is estimated to be about 10 months old. We believe she is a Pekingese mix, but we will know more once her wounds heal and her hair grows back.

Cocoa Bean is receiving critical care, which involves significant veterinary expenses. Any financial support you can provide to help with her recovery would be greatly appreciated. 🙏❤

We received an URGENT call from a local shelter regarding a small dog in terrible condition. COCOA BEAN, who is only 10 pounds and slightly under a year old, was found horribly matted with old bite wounds infested with maggots.

We immediately rushed her to Vergi 24/7. She has been sedated and her wounds cleaned and maggots removed. Unfortunately, her left eye is damaged beyond repair and must be removed. She is also dehydrated and anemic and has a high white blood cell count.

We have no idea how long Cocoa Bean has been in this condition, but she is now safe with us and receiving the critical medical care she desperately needs.

As you all know, we often take in critical cases involving extensive care and significant veterinary expenses. Any support you can provide to help Cocoa Bean recover is greatly appreciated. 🙏❤

We live for HAPPY TAILS, and FREDDY just got his! 🥰

Freddy came into our program a couple of months ago when his previous family could no longer care for him. Fortunately, he was healthy and only needed vaccines and neutering.

At just 7 to 8 months old, Freddy now has his whole life ahead of him with a new mom and dad who are thrilled to welcome him into their home.

Our newly rescued GRIZZY has been to the vet for wound treatment, received a nice warm bath, and is sleeping soundly in her foster home. This is what being safe looks like!

Grizzy is estimated to be around 10 months old and only weighs 10 pounds. Despite the trauma she endured, she is super sweet to people and pups.

GRIZZY is just a little girl who was trying to survive alone on the streets of Houston when she was attacked by a bigger animal. Luckily, a citizen intervened and took her to a nearby animal shelter.

We were contacted and immediately picked her up and went straight to the vet. She has some nasty bite wounds, but fortunately no broken bones. She's been started on antibiotics and pain meds and should be feeling better soon.

Grizzy is estimated to be around 10 months old and only weighs 10 pounds. Despite the trauma she endured, she is friendly to both people and pets.

We're excited to start the week with MOOKIE'S Happy Tail!

Our Mookie is a winner, just like his namesake, MLB player Mookie Betts! Once on the shelter’s kill-list due to minor injuries, he is now fully healed and beginning a new life with a pawsome family! He's pictured here with his dad, and he also has a human mom and feline sister!

PELE is one of our recent rescues who narrowly escaped euthanasia at the shelter. He was confiscated up by animal control after his owner was evicted and he was left behind. Due to overcrowding, he quickly found himself in danger.

Pele is approximately 10 months old, weighs 26 lbs, and appears to be a scruffy terrier mix. He has been fully vetted at the clinic and is ready for the next stage of his journey. Pele loves playing with other dogs, walks well on a leash, and is a total sweetheart to everyone!

MARTA, one of our recent rescues, is ready to leave the vet clinic and start the next chapter of her life!

Marta is about 1 year old and weighs 29 lbs. She appears to be a scruffy terrier mix (such as a Cairn or Border Terrier) and is incredibly sweet. While she can be a bit reserved at first, she warms up within a few minutes and becomes your new Best Friend. She also gets along well with other K-9 kids and walks nicely on a leash.
