ULI Position - Young Leaders Chair

Why Are you involved in ULI Houston?

I first got involved with ULI Houston when I was working at a development group. I wanted to learn more about the industry, grow professionally, and meet like-minded peers. I immediately found the Young Leaders group and
jumped right in.

After a year as a member, I joined the Young Leaders Mentorship Program—which ended up being a turning point in my career. At the time, I was torn between finding another job or taking the leap to start my own business. My mentor not only helped me recognize my potential but also walked me through what it really takes to build a business in this industry. She even became my first client when I made the decision to go for it.

Since then, my involvement with ULI has continued to evolve. I always find new reasons to value it, but at the core, it always comes back to the people. ULI has a unique way of bringing people together, and through those connections, I’ve gained opportunities I never could have imagined. It’s professional development in its truest form—not just courses or programs, but the conversations, connections, and shared passion of people building both projects and communities, literally and figuratively.

Member Spotlight: Ryan LeVasseur

As Programs Chair of ULI Houston, I am proud to contribute to a local and national organization that reflects many of the same values that guide my work leading LeVass Ventures. Our firm is dedicated to aligning development strategies with the values and missions of our clients, always seeking to create places that are purposeful, vibrant, and enduring. ULI’s focus on thoughtful development, community impact, and placemaking mirrors our belief that real estate can “bridge purpose, place, and profit.” My involvement with ULI is an extension of that commitment, providing a platform to share ideas, foster collaboration, and create long-term value for both communities and stakeholders.

ICYMI: ULI Next took to the streets of Downtown Houston for an inside look at the projects shaping its future—alongside our partners at DowntownHouston+.

Attendees kicked things off at the DowntownHouston+ office before heading out on a guided walking tour highlighting Downtown’s evolving public realm, retail strategy, and street-level vibrancy. The tour wrapped with great conversation (and great food) at Finn Hall.

A huge thank-you to our expert guides:

✨ Jacque Gonzalez-Garcia, Planning & Design Manager for Downtown, who shared insights on the Downtown Public Realm Action Plan, the Main Street Promenade, Cool Connected Corridors, and a sneak peek at Via Fútbol—the pedestrian experience connecting Downtown to the FIFA World Cup festivities.

✨ David Romulo Cisneros, Economic Development Manager for Downtown, who walked us through Downtown’s retail strategy, business incentive programs, and the return of neighborhood-serving retail, including the beloved Henderson & Kane market in Historic Market Square.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for an engaging afternoon of learning, walking, and connecting. Stay tuned for more ULI Next experiences like this one!
