The FIEC General Assembly (AGO) was held via Zoom on Sunday, July 5, 2025. Currently FIEC Federation is composed of 60 organizations from around the world, 36 of which participated in this General Assembly. The evolving situation in Catalonia, in particular the daily challenges in gaining the necessary recognition and funding for our projects, make it more essential than ever, to work with the highest level of coordination.

The FIEC board is composed of Montserrat Marí (Osaka) as president; Rosana Bianchi (Rosario) as vice-president for the Southern Cone of South America; Elisenda Bujons (Stuttgart) as vice-president for Europe; Roger Caballero (Vancouver) as vice-president for North America; Miriam Solé (Araba) as vice-president for Spain; Marta Garrich (Johannesburg) as vice-president for Asia, Oceania, and Africa; and Antoni Pujol (Panama) as vice-president for Central America and the Caribbean. Additionally, the team includes Carmina Munté (London) as secretary general; Antoni Montserrat Moliner (Luxembourg) as board member for studies and analysis; and Jordi Serra (Lausanne) as treasurer. The territorial board members are Esther Barnet (La Plata), Hellena Cardús (Houston), Dori Castilla (Oslo), Christian Costa Woith (Quito), Eulàlia Fàbregas (Cologne), Marie Lefèvre-Fonollosa (Toulouse), Mireia Semís (Zaragoza), and Mercè Porqueres (Paraná). Serving as representatives of associated organizations are Xavier Tudela (IPECC) and Oriol Closas (Castellers)

With the aim of remembering the hundreds of thousands of Catalans living outside the country, on April 26 we will celebrate the International Day of Catalonia Abroad 2026. 🎙️ There are already more than 427,000 of us living around the world. We are Catalonia abroad, we are also Catalonia! 🥇We are pleased to share the Winning Poster of the 2026 Poster Contest organized by the FIEC: Congratulations to the Winner, Luciana Bélen Zapata, from the Casal català de Paranà (Argentina). 🏅 This year's special mention goes to Mireya López Pérez, a student at Escola la Llotja. It is the second poster shared in this publication. Many thanks to all of you who participated in this annual contest and once again congratulations to the winners!!!

On April 23, in Catalonia we celebrate The Book and Rose Festival of Sant Jordi, the Patron Saint of Catalonia, a legendary figure who symbolizes the fight for freedom and cultural identity. 🌹📚 🌹
Sant Jordi is a mythical reference , and represents values ​​shared by the people of Catalonia.
In a broader spectrum, he represents love, literature and culture.
This Legendary Knight represents who we are and what we value as a society.

La Diada de Sant Jordi mostra com els catalans a l’exterior treballen activament per portar la nostra cultura arreu (Sant Jordi és i serà una festa catalana tant si es vol com si no es vol i així ho continuarem fent malgrat els anticatalanistes fracassats crònics). Del 21 al 25 d'abril Sant Jordi a Nova York (USA) amb el Catalan Institute of America.

Segons l'INE uns 6.000 catalans estan registrats al consolat de Nova York.

Catalan foreign action cannot be understood without the tireless, and often unrecognized, work of the International Federation of Catalan Entities (FIEC). In 1996 FiEC iwill be 30 years old. It began as a laboratory of ideas to advance the knowledge and satisfaction of the needs of Catalans living abroad which include, guaranteeing needs in health coverage, cultural and language needs, democratic rights (external vote) and a return strategy.
