The Transportation Advocacy Group (TAG) is dedicated to building a broad-based coalition of businesses, nonprofits, and local governments working together to advocate for the Houston region's transportation infrastructure needs. TAG is dedicated to building a broad-based coalition that brings together businesses, local governments, community organizations, and nonprofits to collectively address th
e region's complex transportation demands. The Houston area has the highest growth rate in the nation, with the metro area surpassing the populations of 37 states and the District of Columbia. Our region is expanding rapidly, projected to grow from nearly 6 million residents to over 10 million by 2050. Recognizing that our current infrastructure cannot meet the demands of this significant growth, TAG's primary mission is to champion adequate, full, and sustainable funding from local, state, and federal governments. We actively unite the region by facilitating crucial conversations and policy advocacy, bringing key stakeholders such as leaders from TxDOT, Port Houston, and the City of Houston to the table. Our advocacy is focused on the critical infrastructure projects that keep Houston moving. To date, our efforts have impacted 22 highway projects, 9 toll projects, 5 freight projects, and 5 high-capacity transit projects. By working to build broad-based public support and championing these vital systems, we are dedicated to a future that has a well-funded, sustainable, and resilient transportation network that drives economic growth, enhances mobility, and advances thriving communities in the Houston region.
