We are so grateful and blessed to give back to our community. We met some wonderful people. The McGowan Foundation was able to give 75 backpacks to children all over the Houston area.

And just like that, the 2026-2027 school year is here! As a single mother, I ensure that my children have what they need every school year , even if that means I go without in other areas. I know it’s hard. I know times are tough. But please know that the McGowan Foundation is here for the community. We are giving away 100 backpacks to elementary and middle school students from the Houston area August 7th. are excited and are doing this because not only do we care , we really understand.

Today is all about women empowering women.

Say hello to Ana Castro—a hardworking single mother of two whose resilience and determination inspire those around her.

Ana has a heart for serving others. She loves animals and is a foster parent for the local animal shelter. She recently earned her certification to become an A/C technician, proving that with opportunity, determination, and support, new doors can open.

Ana has worked along side the McGowan Foundation executive director to help coach her and empower her through Work Force Development.

Ana is someone we admire because she leads by example, showing that perseverance, compassion, and hard work can change lives.
