More than 900 drilling and well professionals from 30+ countries gathered in Bali, Indonesia for the 2026 SPE/IADC Asia Pacific Drilling Technology Conference & Exhibition (APDT). 🇮🇩

In the opening session, Manav Kumar Agarwal, President of Dynamic Drilling, represented IADC as a 2026 Executive Committee Member. He spotlighted the IADC-SPE partnership, IADC's regional student chapters, and geothermal progress. He then introduced IADC's new reputational messaging campaign, urging members to use materials in the online portal to help tell drilling's story.

IADC proudly sponsored 12 students and two faculty advisors from our Curtin University and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Student Chapters.

Since stepping into the role as Chair of IADC's Supply Chain Committee, Isabela Louback has made developing future industry professionals a central focus — a lesson pulled straight from her own 25-year career, where relationships opened as many doors as her resume did.

ART Spark Tank gives emerging tech entrepreneurs a platform to present their products and ideas to a panel of drilling contractors, operators, and service companies (the "sharks"). The goal: give innovators real-world feedback ("sparks") on what actually matters to the people they're building for.

YPs gathered at Patterson-UTI last week to dive into AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, and practical strategies for using the latest AI tools.

A big thanks to Micah Garrison, VP of Supply Chain Management at Patterson-UTI, for leading this excellent hands-on professional development session. As Micah put it: AI can handle the "broccoli" of your job so you can focus on the "steak," where you're adding real value.
