Across the United States, MAS Youth chapters are inspiring young people to live for a mission and champion social change. Houston's MAS Youth chapter, one of more than 40 chapters nationwide, reaches out to the community's young people through programs that encourage integration, contribution, and service. We strive to strike a balance between the activist and thinker--the heart and the hands--thr
ough programs that foster positive relationships between Muslims and the greater society. Right now, we are building partnerships with fellow organizations and people dedicated to the human cause in the many forms it takes. We believe in the potential of young humans in Houston, and we relate most to the college-aged and young professionals. There is no Houston without the "you," so help us help you refocus and give back. Signature Programs
1) MY Connect: Groups of 5-8 members, usually with a mentor, form intimate study circles to develop Islamic character, build a support circle and deep bonds with fellow members, and give back to their communities in creative ways.
2) MY Give (MYG): MYG's motto is “Serve the Creator by serving His creation.” To demonstrate the relationship between faith and activism, MYG mobilizes young people and instills the Islamic spirit of social responsibility. The MYG project organizes regular community service activities for volunteers, from helping to build low-income housing to planting trees and cleaning up local parks.
3) MY Revive: Spiritual retreats that provide youth an opportunity to become closer to God through prayer, inspirational lectures, and bonding activities.
4) Central Annual Meeting (CAM): An annual gathering for MY workers which provides opportunities for structured discussions, socialization, networking, team building and the development of shared narratives.
