On April 17, 2026, District 5890 PDG Bob Gebhard gave a powerful presentation to the West U Rotary Club about the Honor Flight Network (https://www.honorflight.org), which serves more than 30 Vietnam-era veterans every six months with unforgettable trips to Washington, D.C. On Thursday, April 2, 2026, Katie Scott, MPH, the CEO of CarePartners, presented an outstanding program to the Rotary Club of West U (Houston). Katie shared how she manages this volunteer-led organization that is focused on providing resources, education, support and respite to family caregivers and care to older adults and individuals with dementia. Caroline delivered Part Two of her powerful presentation on the Camp Logan riots—one of the most tragic chapters in our city’s past. Paula Swain, of EXIM Bank presented a program at West U Rotary Club’s breakfast meeting on March 12, 2026. In the photo, President-Elect Bentley Sanford is presenting Paula with our “highly coveted notebook” as a “small” token of our appreciation.

Paula is in the Structured and Project Finance Division of EXIM Bank and her career focus is the oil and gas value chain. At EXIM, Paula has arranged or ensured financing for many Project Finance Magazine’s Deals of the Year and specializes in Mexico, national oil & gas companies and large energy project financings. Paula originally joined EXIM Bank in 1992 and was in the newly formed Project Finance Division before her return to the private sector in Texas in 2000. Prior to rejoining EXIM Bank in 2011, Paula was with El Paso Corporation (former Fortune 500, acquired by Kinder Morgan) for ten years where she financed El Paso’s international power projects, pipeline projects in Mexico, U.S. regulated pipelines and a U.S. LNG regas facility.

Rotary Club of West U Houston loves the Challenger Baseball program. This baseball program for boys and girls with physical and mental challenges. The most fundamental goal of the Challenger Division is to give everyone a chance to play baseball and have a rewarding experience, regardless of limitations. We enjoy our time with the kids running the concession stand and cheering for the players.

Swing into Action! The Rotary Club of West U (Houston) is thrilled to announce the return of its annual Charity Golf Tournament in 2026 at Riverbend Country Club on April 20, 2026. We extend a warm invitation for you to join us either by participating as a player or sponsoring. Over the past 30 years, the Club has been hosting a golf event, dedicating its proceeds to giving back to the community and supporting the mission of its beneficiary association.

This year's tournament supports Kinetic Kids. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children with special needs and their families through sports, fine arts and educational programs to foster the development of courage, confidence, fitness, pride, joy and community. Kinetic Kids Website.
