EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Universal Elite Aerospace, Inc. (UEA, Inc.) is a certified Veteran and Minority owned, aviation marketing, promotional and educational company, aimed at increasing minority, women’s and Veterans awareness and participation locally in the evolving aviation industry, more specifically as aircraft pilots. The company is based in the metropolitan area of Houston, Texas. Located cen
trally “inside” the loop, UEA, Inc. and its members will be in the constant presence of a large portion of Houston’s 2+ million residents. We have a central office and operations headquarters located near the downtown area with satellite offices positioned within 5-10 miles of Bush Intercontinental Airport and William H. Hobby airport, respectively. The current presence and activity for urban aviation marketing in Houston currently has a paltry presence. There are a handful of organizations in the area that passively recruit African-American teens, Hispanics and women, but have no constant active presence in the areas of Houston where kids are most at-risk, poverty is the norm, drugs and crime is rampant and hope is all but lost; this is where my program will thrive! The motto of my company is “Free their minds, show them the sky and watch them fly!”
It is a fact that less than 3% of FAA licensed commercial aircraft pilots are Hispanic, less than 2% are African-American and approximately 1.7% are women (www.FAA.gov). One reason for the lack of interest in aviation in urban youth and teens is their lack of awareness as well as the lack of positive African-American and minority role models in the aviation industry. Also, as a certified minority-owned business we have an uncanny experience and unique approach in attracting, capturing and keeping the attention of young urban youth and teens. There are other organizations in the area that make an effort to attract candidates but the graduation rate of ‘successful’ students is less than admirable. Organizations in the area include: Sterling High School, Carnegie Vanguard High School, Civil Air Patrol, Black Pilots of America, Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals and Texas Southern University. The aforementioned entities make considerable effort to reach minorities, but there is still a huge breach in connecting to the younger generations. UEA, Inc. will lessen that gap by addressing minority youth prior to their high school years, as early as 9-15 years of age. It is imperative to make an outreach effort earlier than high school. will provide a structured, positive, team-building educational program to ensure citizens are aware of options available to them besides becoming a musician, professional athlete or entertainer, as the odds tend to be astronomically unfavorable. According to the state census, by 2015 Hispanic males between the ages of 20-24 and African American males between ages 24-29 will be the majority in Houston, 600,000+. It is imperative to give our youth options to better their lives instead of continuously going to prison, being involved in all types of criminal activity, dropping out of high school at alarming rates and even worse contributing to our cities already high murder and homicide rates. The unique approach of my company focuses on promoting ‘being a pilot’ and aviation as the new “trending” status appealing career. will enlist the help of local musical artists, athletes, community leaders, local celebrities, radio, print and news media and a 20 person info distribution team. The primary risks I face are slow ‘acceptance’ to the new ideas and ‘de-programming’ previous negative ideologies within the minority community, but with constant positive re-assurance I can overcome this issue. Keeping accurate and precise financial records and use all funds specifically for their intended purposes is a priority to achieve this goal. Our vision is to bring fresh hope to a community of people that desperately need it, keep our minority youth on a straight path to accomplish a career they never knew was possible, decrease the school dropout rates, crime in our neighborhoods, produce better citizens and create a more positive and productive environment, socially as well as economically. My company is poised and prepared to carry out this mission, a mission that needs immediate attention! I am actively seeking financial donors who see the benefits and share all or part of this vision that I and my staff are very passionate about.
