On the 17th of December, 2016, the lives of 36 Nigerian kids were changed forever. The U.S. based non-profit, STEM4Africa engaged them in a whole day of invigorating learning, where they gained critical skills in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through conceptual problem solving using nothing more than what they are used to and love; fun LEGO models, to design, build and program robots on the WeDo 2.0 software platform. Twenty years from now, one of these kids may just be the biggest name in the Technology industry, not just in Africa but potentially the entire world; that is one of our goals.
This program was provide at no cost to the students participating (ages 8-11) from Grange School, Hallmark School and little Saints Montessori, and will continue in Nigeria while expanding to Kenya in 2017.
Let us know what you think by providing comments and suggestions. Also, if you would like to see this in another African country and are willing to partner/volunteer, don't hesitate to contact us via email.
Thanks,
The STEM4Africa Team!
