DIR to Lead National Study on Program Closure and Tenure Policies

The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) has awarded DIR a 54-month contract to lead a national study examining program closures and tenure policies in higher education. Partnering with Abt Global, DIR will analyze IPEDS data, conduct a nationwide survey, and engage institutional leaders to understand the factors driving academic program sustainability. Findings will guide policymakers and education leaders in shaping more effective, equitable higher-education systems.

Advancing Opportunity: DIR to Evaluate Federal TRIO Programs Nationwide

DIR, in partnership with Mathematica, has been selected to lead a 54-month national evaluation of the Federal TRIO Programs, funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES). The study will explore program operations, participant experiences, and design options for future outcome evaluations. Building on DIR’s long history with TRIO research, the team will collect national survey data, convene an expert advisory panel, assess the feasibility of future research, and deliver accessible reports to inform policies that expand college access for underrepresented students.

We’re thrilled to announce DIR’s involvement in Houston’s Bloomberg Public Art Challenge project, HueMan: Shelter, led by the Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District and the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs! Houston was chosen as one of only eight recipients for this award in fall 2023, with a vision to use public art to address local issues and transform perceptions of homelessness.

DIR is excited to contribute our expertise in evaluation, working alongside key partners to define, track, and measure the success of HueMan: Shelter.
