PEP Talks Start at the Top!

According to The Institute of Education Science's "School Crime and Safety: 2021", there were a total of 93 school shootings with
casualties at public and private elementary and secondary
schools in 2020–21—the highest number since 2000–01.

Our uniquely developed program PEP (Parent Engagement Program) is designed to target parent/child relationships, with the deliberate objective to aid parents in sending emotionally healthy children to school.

We are very excited to share more of our endeavors in making that happen as we approach the spring school season!

ARK Family,

We wanted to follow up on the points of Gov. Greg Abbott's speech on 2/16, which addressed 7 emergency items that lawmakers can vote on immediately. Gov. Greg Abbott has listed making schools safer a top priority for Texas policy makers.

Public school campuses must give careful attention to both the
emotional and mental health of all students as part of their school
safety plans. In order to do so, it is important to recognize the
recent research indicating a distinct difference between mental and
emotional health.

In addressing extreme school violence, understanding the difference between mental and emotional health is critical. Contrary to popular belief, mental illness is not the root cause of the vast majority of school shootings. In fact, the University of Southern Illinois Medical School has presented a study of 157 school shooting incidents concluding that only 17% of the shooters showed signs of mental illness. The primary culprit is emotional illness.

Dr. Heather Lench, chair of the Department of Psychology and Brain
Science at Texas A&M University, says that programs designed to help teachers provide unconditional care and respect benefit all
students, not just those with a potential for violence. School safety
plans should include emotional health programming that helps all
participants on a campus to feel valued, connected and safe.

Our objective here at The ARKGroup is to partner with school administrators and organizational leaders to deliver the tools to every parent in order for them to give unconditional love to each child.

Did you know that The ARKGroup has been conducting a faith-based prison ministry for about 20 years for women who are incarcerated for minor felonies in Plane State Jail in Dayton, TX? Here are just a few of the comments that were shared at yesterday’s ARK board of directors meeting. When these women are released, they hope to incorporate the parenting lessons they learned into their children’s lives.

About the ARK (Adults Relating to Kids) Group

Kids Who Feel Loved Do Better!

Since its inception in 1992, the ARK (Adults Relating to Kids) Group has been on a mission to improve relationships and build healthy environments through the understanding and application of unconditional love. ARK is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that offers a variety of relational education programs with its flagship curriculums being ARK for Parents and ARK for Teachers.

ARK programs, which also include curriculums for teens, college students and other groups, are research-based, stemming from a study conducted in partnership with the University of Texas School of Public Health. This ground-breaking study revealed a new paradigm for building the self-concept of a child. Rather than being a product of performance, healthy self-esteem is primarily generated by a child receiving unconditional love from an adult (parent, teacher, counselor, etc.) who is central in the child's life. ARK programs were founded and designed based on this principle.

ARK is endorsed by Dr. Robert Brooks, a psychologist at Harvard Medical and one of the world’s leading experts on child resilience. ARK Programs include:
