Good news for LAPS staff!

This morning, the House Taxation and Revenue Committee unanimously adopted an amendment to Senate Bill 151 that would restore approximately $75 million in funding for raises for state and educational workers!

This is a huge win for public sector workers in New Mexico that represents more than the monetary value of a 1% raise – it is proof that when we stand together, shoulder to shoulder, workers can win.

Senate Bill 151 now heads to the full House of Representatives for final approval and then to the State Senate for concurrence before being sent to the Governor for her signature or veto.

Late at night, with little warning and even less debate, a decision was made that sent a clear and troubling message to New Mexico’s public workforce: your work is expendable.
