What makes a Cub Scout happy? 🎃

Apparently, quite a lot.

One of our Pack 1965 families put together this little look at the St. Thomas Pumpkin Patch, where our Scouts help make a favorite Clear Lake fall tradition happen.

Sometimes the best part of Scouting is simply seeing the world through a Scout's eyes. 💙⚜️

What do you get when you give a fifth grader a yogurt cup, two magnets, a D-cell battery and about 15 feet of wire?

Apparently, a speaker!

Pack 1965's Arrow of Light Scouts wrapped up their Engineering Adventure last Sunday by building their own simple electromagnetic speakers. There was wire to coil, connections to make, problems to solve and, eventually, sound coming from something that had recently contained yogurt.

But one of our favorite parts wasn't on the supply list.

Scouts from Scouts BSA Troop 1966 joined the AOLs to lend a hand, troubleshoot and pass along a little of what they've learned.

That's one of the advantages of having Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA meeting under the same roof at the same time on Sunday afternoons. Our younger Scouts don't just hear about what comes next. They get to know the older Scouts who are already there, and those older Scouts get opportunities to turn around and help the next group along.

Sometimes the path from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA starts with a campout.

Sometimes it starts with a yogurt cup and 15 feet of wire.

In previous years, the St. Thomas Pumpkin Patch has welcomed Cinderella and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Beautiful costumes. Graceful dancers. Enchanted princesses.

Very wholesome.

This year...

We've made a different choice.

Scouting doesn't only happen at Scout meetings.

Every school day, Arrow Of Light/5th grade Scouts from Pack 1965 have an important job at Falcon Pass Elementary: raising the American and Texas flags in the morning, then lowering and folding them again in the afternoon.

It's a responsibility the school entrusts to its Scouts: a small but meaningful act of service, and a pretty great example of what Duty to Country and service to your community can look like when you're 10 or 11 years old.

Responsibility. Teamwork. Citizenship. Service. We're pretty proud to see our Scouts putting those values into practice at school, too!

Sometimes Cub Scouting looks like camping, hiking, Pinewood Derby cars and rocket launches.

And sometimes it looks like unloading a truck full of pumpkins. 🎃

On Sunday, Pack 1965 Scouts and families joined the rest of our Scouting at Saint Thomas family, St. Thomas parishioners, Bay Area ST, friends and neighbors to help build The St. Thomas Pumpkin Patch.

There were pumpkins to carry, wagons to pull, wheelbarrows to push and plenty of jobs for Scouts of every size. Our Cubs jumped right in.

We talk a lot in Scouting about helping other people and doing our part. It's even better when our Scouts get the chance to put those words into action alongside their families and their community.

And, yes, moving pumpkins around with your friends is also pretty fun. 🎃⚜️

Apparently nobody told Pack 1965 that summer is over!

Our Cub Scouts took advantage of the sunshine Sunday for their annual Field Day... relay races, games, a little friendly competition, and more than a little water flying around.

Sometimes Scouting is camping, hiking and learning new skills. And sometimes it's just getting outside with your friends and seeing who can move water in a red Solo cup without wearing most of it.

Pack 1965 is for boys and girls in grades K–5 and meets Sunday afternoons at St. Thomas in Nassau Bay.

The first Eagle Scouts from Scouts BSA Troop 1966 - Clear Lake/Nassau Bay, and the first male Eagle Scout "alumni" from our Cub Scout pack.

These boys started Scouting with Pack 1965 (back then it was Pack 848, but with the same leaders and Scouts) 11 years ago!

Congratulations to Marshall, Reed, and Jack. Well done, Scouts!

We are incredibly proud to announce our very first three Eagle Scouts!

Please join us in celebrating Marshall N., Reed H., and Jack S. (pictured left to right). These young men have been Scouting together since the first grade, making this milestone achievement even more special.
