As Canon Bradley Varnell reminds us, we cannot willpower our way into holiness. Real transformation does not come from becoming more impressive, more disciplined, or more put together by our own strength.

It comes through surrender—again and again—to Jesus, who meets us with grace and transforms us from the inside out.

There are places in every heart that we cannot reach through effort alone.

In Sunday’s sermon, Canon Bradley Varnell named a truth many of us know: our deepest wounds were never meant to be healed by willpower. The God who spoke the universe into being is still at work in us, bringing resurrection life to the places we cannot fix ourselves.

You do not have to hide the wounded places from God. Bring them to grace.

Thank you to everyone who brought the creatures you love to be blessed and joined us in giving thanks for the extraordinary gift of God’s creation. Big, small, furry, scaly, spiky and everything in between. They remind us of the love, joy, and responsibility that come with sharing this world together.

In the words of St. Francis of Assisi: "Praise be to you, my Lord, with all your creatures.”

Take a look at some of the wonderful faces—human and otherwise!—who joined us. 🐶🐱🦔🦎

May we carry this blessing beyond one afternoon, caring tenderly for the animals in our lives and faithfully for all that God has made.
