Sometimes, the first step is simply helping someone feel safe.

For SEARCH’s Homeless Outreach Team, building trust starts with showing up, listening, and reminding people that they don’t have to navigate homelessness alone.

A meal, a conversation, a familiar face... small moments of care can open the door to connection, resources, and ultimately, a path home.

This is what outreach looks like: meeting people where they are and letting them know someone is rooting for them.

Great news - SEARCH was selected as a 2026 Maximus Foundation grantee! SEARCH is a first-time recipient of a Maximus grant, and we couldn’t be more excited!

An evening filled with powerful stories, meaningful connections, and a shared commitment to creating a Houston where everyone has a place to call home.

Our annual Storytelling Event brought our community together to listen, reflect, and gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of those impacted by homelessness. Through stories of resilience, courage, and hope, we were reminded of the importance of compassion, connection, and the role we all play in creating lasting change.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible storytellers for sharing their experiences so openly, and to everyone who joined us for this special evening. Your presence, support, and willingness to listen help move our mission forward.

A shared meal, a chance to connect, and a reminder that no one at SEARCH walks alone.

Last Friday, clients from across our scattered site housing came together for a special luncheon generously provided by Unity of Houston - Moments like these create space for community, connection, and belonging, important parts of the journey home and staying housed.
