Please join us for The Untold Stories of the Kuh-I-Lal Mine
Saturday, May 3 | 6 PM CT
Join the GIA alumni Collective, Houston Chapter for an incredible opportunity to learn about this mysterious mine in Tajikistan, known for both its legendary spinels that now reside in the British Crown Jewels and for the legends surrounding its treacherous depths.
Dacques Nini, GIA GG, will unravel the tales of his experience as an adventurous field gemologist and world gemological traveler, taking us on his journey to the mine thanks to unprecedented access by the region's tribal leaders. Through never-before-seen photographs and a first-hand experience, Dacques will narrate this incredible glimpse into one of the most secretive, historic gemstone deposits.
Dacques has over 20 years of fieldwork experience across 80 countries, exploring elite gem-producing regions such as Mogôk, notable diamond mines, and the Colombian Emerald Mines. His expertise blends scientific knowledge with a deep connection to collectors and trading houses. As the U.S. Ambassador for the International Colored Gemstone Association and a GIA Alumni Collective Chapter Leader, Nini champions ethical sourcing, global trade and gemological education. His insights have been published internationally, but this exclusive presentation offers a unique opportunity to experience his discoveries firsthand.
