This week’s Torah portion, Nasso, invites reflection on blessing, holiness, and trust in God's provision. From the rituals of ancient vows to the enduring power of the Priestly Blessing, the message remains: peace, grace, and sacred responsibility. Last week, the Holocaust Garden of Hope honored Lucanne Robbins, whose Colonneh Lodge Eagle Scout project created a temporary pathway through the Garden. Robbins is the first Eagle Scout project completed in partnership with HRA18 and the Garden.

The pathway serves as more than a physical trail. It guides visitors toward the future vision of the Holocaust Garden of Hope, leading to the planned locations of five future exhibits still waiting to be built as additional volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners join the mission.

“This path represents the road ahead,” said Rozalie Jerome, Founder of the Holocaust Remembrance Association and the Holocaust Garden of Hope. “It reflects the spirit of service, sacrifice, and leadership that Memorial Day reminds us to honor. We are deeply grateful to Lucanne Robbins, her friends, family, and the scout volunteers who helped create something meaningful that will impact generations to come.”

This Memorial Day, we remember the soldiers who gave everything for our freedom.

We honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the families they left behind. We bless and remember the widows, orphans, and loved ones who carry their legacy every day.

We will not forget.

This Memorial Day, the Holocaust Remembrance Association reflects on the solemn reality of those who never returned from service. We honor those who never came home and those still missing. In this season of remembrance, we recommit ourselves to the work of honoring sacrifice, defending freedom, and preserving memory across generations.

As Shavuot begins, we reflect on a moment when remembrance, truth, and responsibility were entrusted from one generation to the next.

Shavuot commemorates the giving of the Torah — a reminder that values must be taught, carried forward, and lived with courage. At HRA18, this same responsibility guides our mission every day through Holocaust remembrance, education, reconciliation, and the formation of future Upstanders.

As survivor voices grow fewer, the calling to preserve memory and stand against hatred becomes even more urgent. This holiday reminds us that what is passed from generation to generation has the power to shape the future.

May this season bring reflection, peace, wisdom, and renewed commitment to truth, compassion, and remembrance.

Chag Shavuot Sameach from the Holocaust Remembrance Association.
