Participants in PAIR come from all over the world! They are refugees, people who cannot return to their homeland because of a “well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion.”

re a few are given the chance to start a new life. Several thousand refugees arrive in the Houston area every year. They face many challenges in adjusting to American life. PAIR exists to help young refugees seize the educational opportunities now available to them.

🎬 Join PAIR for a Special Film Night!
We’re thrilled to invite you to the historic River Oaks Theatre for a special screening of the award-winning documentary Ultimate Citizens.

The film follows an Iranian American school counselor who builds an ultimate frisbee team with immigrant and refugee students, exploring themes of resilience, belonging, and the power of community, values that are at the heart of PAIR’s mission.

💬 Before each screening, hear directly from PAIR students as they share their own journeys of arriving in the U.S., adapting to a new culture, and finding community through PAIR.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for welcoming PAIR students for your Day of Action at your Houston office!

Our high school students left energized after their visit downtown, where BCG volunteers led mock interviews and shared their experiences through a career panel. This was the perfect finale for this group of students after a week-long Professionalism Bootcamp; having the opportunity to practice interviewing, ask thoughtful questions, and connect with professionals across a variety of career paths was invaluable.

Experiences like these help our youth build the confidence, skills, and networks they’ll carry into college and their future careers. Thank you for investing your time, expertise, and encouragement in the next generation.

Middle school students stepped into the kitchen for a day full of cooking, laughter, and healthy habits. 🥗✨

Students explored how healthy eating can start with the foods and traditions they already know and love at home. Through hands-on cooking they learned that nutritious meals can be creative, culturally meaningful, and fun to make.

A big thank you to Rice University’s Cultural Nutrition Initiative, our staff, and volunteers for making this sweet experience possible. 💛

PAIR’s very own Teen Council planned the most incredible field day for nearly 100 middle school PAIR students and their siblings last weekend! The students had a blast doing relay races, participating in a scavenger hunt, playing volleyball and soccer, doing art, and engaging in water activities. One small detail from the PAIR Impact Breakfast we especially loved: the floral arrangements at each table were created by a group of PAIR students from Wisdom High School! With the help of and volunteers, these dedicated students completed a workshop in floral arrangement and returned the next week to create the centerpieces some guests were lucky enough to take home! 💐💙

What an incredible morning! The inaugural PAIR Impact Breakfast surpassed our goal and raised over $75,000 to support refugee youth of Houston with mentorship, academic support, and opportunities to thrive.
