The music therapy program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX is going under the review of discontinuation of the program after just reaching its 50th anniversary. The program is being considered to have “low program sustainability” due to its small-sized class.

In response current and former students created a petition form. Please consider showing your support by signing and sharing! Link to petition is also in bio!

The 2024 Workforce Development Analysis Report is now available through the AMTA bookstore. It provides a picture of AMTA membership and the music therapy community. The report is based on the AMTA Member survey data gathered in 2025. The report includes statistics on demographics, employment, and salaries to help describe the music therapy profession.

The 2024 Workforce Development Analysis Report is available to current AMTA members free of charge, as a member benefit. Non-members may purchase the report for $40.00. Instructions are provided below on the easiest way to log in to your account and access the bookstore.
