Dear Congregation,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our beloved Reverend James Martin, a good and faithful servant of the Lord, went home to be with God on January 16, 2025. Even in his final moments, Reverend Martin was praising the Lord and giving thanks to God as only he could, surrounded by those who loved him deeply.
Absent during this time was his son, Miguel, whom Reverend Martin loved dearly. Although Miguel could not be present, his father's love and pride for him were unwavering.
Reverend Martin was unapologetic in his love for the Lord and his unwavering walk in faith. We pray that all who knew him will remember him as a faithful servant and a light in this world.
We ask that you join us in prayer for the family, the church, and the great loss we all feel:
For his son Miguel, living in the Dominican Republic, who is heartbroken by the distance during this difficult hour. For his grandchildren and all those who came to love and cherish him.
For his niece Juanita, who stood by his side and cared for him until the end.
For Roger in Barbados, who made every effort to be with him in his final days. We thank God that you found each other.
Let us lean on one another and the Lord as we navigate this loss. Reverend Martin’s life was a testament to his faith, and while his absence will be felt deeply, we rejoice that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Due to the anticipated winter weather in Houston, we anticipate that his homegoing service will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025. We will share the arrangements once they are finalized.
In faith and prayer,
Pastor Marvetta M. Walker
