Our platform is a safe space for people of all abilities and their caregivers. Dar-us-Sakina is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the Muslim community of Houston. We inspire the community to abandon stigmas and embrace individuals with disabilities with empathy and respect. Together, we are better.

Dar-us-Sakina recently hosted a special needs prayer in honor of Eid at Masjid El Farouq. This is a meaningful tradition that brings the Dar-us-Sakina community together in prayer, joy, and inclusion. 🌙

There’s something powerful about a community coming together this way hearts united in gratitude, everyone welcomed and embraced just as they are. Eid al-Adha reminds us of devotion, sacrifice, and the blessing of showing up for one another.

Did you know that Dar-us-Sakina hosts six Parent Training and Respite & Recharge events each year?

We understand that caring for a loved one with special needs can be both rewarding and challenging. That's why these events are designed to provide parents and caregivers with valuable resources, expert guidance, and a supportive community.

While parents attend informative sessions led by professionals, their children and dependents enjoy a safe, inclusive respite environment supported by trained volunteers, fun activities, snacks, bounce houses, and more.

We are grateful to have kicked off our first Respite & Recharge event of the year at Masjid Hamza with Dr. Sana Younus, who led an insightful discussion on Mental Health. Thank you, Dr. Sana, for sharing your expertise and supporting our families.

We are honored to walk alongside over 600 families we serve by creating opportunities for learning, connection, and growth.

Dar-us-Sakina is Hiring Volunteer Sunday School Coordinators!

Are you passionate about inclusion, education, and serving individuals with special needs within our community? Dar-us-Sakina is seeking dedicated volunteers to help lead and support our growing Sakina Sunday School program.

We are currently recruiting Sunday School Coordinators for the following locations:

đź“Ť Aqsa

đź“Ť Sabireen

đź“Ť Pearland

As a Sunday School Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities, collaborating with volunteers and families, and helping create a welcoming, inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to:

âś” Gain nonprofit leadership experience

âś” Make a meaningful impact in the lives of special needs families

âś” Develop program coordination and volunteer management skills

âś” Give back to the community in a rewarding way
