🎺 Tomorrow night, Houston Jazz Festival 2026 continues with Nicholas Payton at Doc’s Jazz Supper Club!

We’re excited to present GRAMMY Award-winning trumpeter and composer Nicholas Payton for two special performances on Saturday, September 19.

A New Orleans native and one of the most distinctive musical voices of his generation, Payton’s music moves through jazz, funk, soul, R&B and the broader tradition he calls Black American Music.

🎷 Houston Jazz Festival 2026 kicks off TOMORROW NIGHT!

We’re starting the festival at Echoes in Montrose with Houston Ensemble — a group that’s become a familiar part of Houston’s jazz scene through their Monday night jam at AvantGarden.

For our Festival Kickoff, Cory Wilson on saxophone, Armov on guitar, Chad Wesselkamper on bass, and Andre Venson on drums will take over Echoes from 9 PM to midnight with a night of high-energy jazz fusion and plenty of room for the music to stretch out.

Thursday, September 17 | 9 PM–Midnight
Echoes | 900 Richmond Ave. Ste A
FREE admission

There are no reservations, so come early if you want to grab a seat. Then settle in, have a drink and help us officially get four days of the Houston Jazz Festival underway.

Presented by the Houston Jazz Collective, a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
