National Black MBA Association - Houston Chapter Established in 1983, the Houston Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters in the U.S., with over 800 members.

Our members consist of MBAs and MBA students, business professionals, & entrepreneurs from both the public and private sectors. The Houston Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc. (NBMBAA) is a nonprofit organization focused on providing individuals with the opportunity to pursue higher education, develop their professional skills, and increase the economic wealth of the community.

Upshaw, MPA is the Founder & CEO of Black Houston Creatives Network (BHCN), a membership-based professional association focused on increasing access, visibility, and economic opportunity for Black creatives through community, resources, curated networking experiences, and strategic partnerships. With a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master of Public Administration, and more than a decade of experience across justice policy, communications, and program leadership, Denise has worked with organizations including the NYC Board of Correction, Travis County Juvenile Court, and Harris County. She intentionally built BHCN as an LLC to create a sustainable, revenue-generating creative ecosystem that drives economic mobility, strategic partnerships, and long-term community impact through BHCN’s CREATIVES Framework: Community, Resources, Economic Opportunity, Access, Technology, Impact, Visibility, Education, and Sustainability.

About the panelist:

Kevin Rawls is a God-centered, Houston-based, live music and event photographer! He is a proud alumni of Texas State University where he earned his B.A. in Public Relations, and is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
