Annie served in the Finance Battalion of the 82nd Airborne during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and spent 12 years teaching math after she came back. Then she hit a wall.
The Wounded Warrior Project helped her rediscover the joy of riding. Volunteers from recently helped us send her off on a bike of her own.

The Jafaris arrived in Houston from Afghanistan with the skills and the drive to build a new life. Two bikes means the kids can ride to school safely — and mom can get to the store while dad is at work. 🚲

Jasmine is a frequent volunteer at Freewheels Houston and she also pitches in at the library, where she met Tuscany and helped him navigate computer resources and look for work and housing. When she learned he needed a bike, she arranged one through Freewheels and delivered it with her father.
Two volunteer roles. One neighbor who needed both. 🚲

Mark spent six years in the U.S. Navy working on nuclear carriers and submarines. These days, he's doing maintenance work for small businesses around Houston — and his Freewheels bike is how he gets there.
He was one of 10 veterans who built their Freewheels bikes at the Tunnel to Towers Veterans Village in Tomball. He said he will be hooking up his bike trailer and heading off to his next job.
